Pano Fountas is a Greek film composer and orchestrator currently residing in Westchester County, NY.
His recent projects include the historical drama 1805 (2022), the documentary How We Continued On - Stifel and KBW (2021), and the award-winning animated short film NoWhereMan (2020). He has composed trailer music tracks for Fight or Flight, a boutique trailer music company based in Los Angeles, and commercial music demos for Found Objects, a music production company based in Brooklyn, New York.
His Sinfonietta for Strings (2022), a recent commission by the Friends of Music Society Orchestra, was premiered at the Athens Concert Hall in May 2022 and will also be performed at the 1st Halki International Music Festival in September 2022.
He is a co-founder of the 7th Floor Composer Group, a startup collaborative of four composers whose collective credits include award-winning films, documentaries, animation, and video games. In 2022, the group was contracted to score the feature film Upon Waking.
As an orchestrator, he is currently reworking a selection of documentary scores by Chris Hajian (The Infiltrator, City of Lies) for a live orchestra recording. In 2021, he contributed orchestrations to the inaugural Ability Beyond Disabilities Concert (Pasadena, CA) in collaboration with orchestrator Greg Pliska. He was also a synthestrator for the Off-Broadway show The Alchemist (the play was reviewed by the NY Times). In 2020, he assisted composer Mark Suozzo with midi transcription and music preparation for the PBS production of the American Experience documentary The Codebreaker.
He is a recipient of the prestigious NYU Alan Menken Scholarship, which is awarded by eight-time Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken. He also won the Friend of Music Society Scholarship in memory of internationally acclaimed composer and Herder prize winner Theodore Antoniou.
He received a MMus in Screen Scoring from New York University Steinhardt and a BMus with Distinction in Classical Piano Performance from the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow.
